Hi,

I've had migraines for about 8 years now and want to see if there is anyone out there who has migraines like mine or who can give me some advice as to how stop my migraines or reduce the pain. My migraines have changed over the years since I first started getting them.

Recently, I get an intense migraine every other Tuesday. This is not the first time they have fallen into a regular pattern, but it is the first time where this is the only time I'm having headaches I can't explain (for example, ones I can explain for by being dehydrated or too little sleep). In college, I had one every Wednesday for a semester. Other semesters, there wasn't as noticeable a pattern but they were still frequent and completely incapacitating.

With the most recent migraine, it's intense, perhaps the most painful feeling I have ever experienced. However, this is also the first time where I've gone for longer stretches without any headache pain (the two weeks between migraines) which for me is amazing. At the same time, I'm frightened by the fact that the lack of pain on those days which is normal to most people makes me completely elated because it's been so rare.

These are the symptoms of my current reoccurring migraine:

-the pain is at the front of my head, always on the right side, in the general region behind my right eye (this has always been the location)
-No pain medications help, ranging from aspirin to Advil migraine to Vicodin
-no visual auroras
-inability to think clearly/memory does not work properly when the migraine is present; forget trying to work or read, I can only sleep or watch a movie (I've found smelling peppermint oil has helped me think a little clearer when I have a migraine, but it doesn't help the pain)
-once my migraine starts, I'm generally incapacitated for the rest of that day and sometimes the majority of the proceeding day
-sometimes light and noise bother, but not always (noise is more common than light)
-recently I've been feeling nauseous with the migraine, but not always
-movement makes it a lot worse; if I'm laying completely still the pain can be kept at bay (still affects productivity)
-migraine stays consistent, even with changes to caffeine, chocolate, wine, and cheese intake
-migraine still occurs with changes/consistency to sleep, work, and stress level (it actually seems to fall into a more recognizable pattern when these are normal)

Other factors:
-I'm 25 years old and female
-I also almost always get migraines after a long day of traveling, be it by train, bus, or plane

Thoughts or suggestions? Anyone else experience this kind of migraine? Any ideas of cures?

Thank you in advance!

That headaches sounds almost the same as the migraines I used to get from eating red #40 food coloring. Just completely incapacitating, couldn't look at the computer or read, the pain being incredible. Also got very nauseous and sound/light sensitivity. I just remember the pain being so much worse than it is now that I do not eat artificial food colorings.
