Migraine and epilepsy genetic link

This perhaps is the reason why some antiepileptic medication is an effective preventative for some of us.
It is also interesting what they say about aura and the flashing lights etc.

Although I cannot say that there is a single case of epilepsy in my immediate family, not even in my large extended family I had migraines since my childhood.

It is of course quite possible that it is people who have epilepsy, that are more likely to get bad migraines but perhaps not the other way round.

Still it is good that there is reserch going into migraine no matter in what context - hopefull one of such discoveries might lead eventually to an effective treatment.

One of my neuros thought that there was a fine line between epilepsy and migraine.......especially for those people who have migraine with aura.

This is very interesting JM. It would be interesting to know if he had based this opinion on his own experiences with his patients, and if he treated both migraine and elipepsy so had epxerince of both.
