I was quite amazed to see how much world population has increased in the last 50 years.

I suppose this is good new since much of this is due to the fact that we all live longer, and our health has improved due to better medicines, and inoculations of children to prevent most common diseases, with some of them disappearing alltogether (like smallpox for example), as well as improved standart of living in many developing countries.
