Exercise and heart damage Empty Exercise and heart damage

I was amazed to see that:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16048121

We are being constantly told that exrecise is good for us, that we must all do it, or else...
I am always feeling gulty about not doing enough. I also have close members of my family who love it and are often overdoing it.
I must say I already worry about their joints and various fractures and wear and tear that they will pay for when they get older, but I've never imagined that they might be possibly damaging their hearts, as well. Such news is very worrying.

I know that not everybody who exrercises, is working at such high level, but from my won experince I can see, that people often become very dependent of their daily "fix" of all that endorphin that exercise provides, and therefore are unlikely to be the best judge of what is enough, and what is too much. I know moderation is best, but how do we know what is right for us?

I don't know anyone who exercises to this level... (11 hours a day)--- but I could envision such activity causing multiple problems, and not just to the heart.

I think that most things need to be done in moderation, and exercise is one of them---

Interesting post!

The report I heard on the Today show only addressed runners. It said they monitored men and found heart damage after marathons and it didn't all reverse itself.
