Embarrassing question (so embarrassing that I'm posting under a different name).

I have neurological problems that have recently caused modest erectile dysfunction. My doctor gave me samples of all three standard drugs for this. While they work, they trigger massive migraines in me - which makes sense since they help blood vessels dilate, which use to be what they thought caused migraines.

The worst was Cialis, which is suppose to last for 36 hours instead of only a few hours like the other. So instead of getting migraines for one evening, and even though I took the smallest possible dose, and I cut that in half, I've had completely disabling migraines for two days.

And not a mild migraine, but as bad as they get for me. I came very close to asking my wife to take me to the ER today.

I'm never touching these drugs again.

Anybody here hear of migraneurs having this problem with these drugs and any solutions?

Thanks

Being female, I've never been given that particular type of medicine, but as a random thought...are you on any antidepressants? There are certain ones of those that can cause the type of problem you mention. I would think that your doc would have brought that up when he gave you the samples, but doctors are human, so I thought I'd throw out my knowledge.

Also, if you do take an antidepressant, PLEASE don't just stop taking it, talk to your doctor about an alternative med or a taper schedule.

No - I've only taken antidepressants in the past for migraine prevention. Currently not on any drugs with this side effect. It's due to a neurological degeneration disease.
