Found out I'm Getting Laid Off and the Migraines won't stop Empty Found out I'm Getting Laid Off and the Migraines won't stop

Hi Everyone,
I was doing super well on the Nortryptiline, headaches down to one or two and week and sometimes a whole week without, until I found out I was getting laid off and haven't had more than 24 hours between episodes. I must be clenching my teeth at night because I wake up with tightness in the side of my face and neck. I don't think about it all the time. The worry must be subconscious. I don't know what to do. I go to work knowing when the year is out, I'm done. It's all about budget and seniority so there isn't anything personal involved, but I can't seem to cope. Any suggestions? I appreciate you all listening. cat

So sorry to hear about your job...........certainly when we internalize stress it finds a way to make itself known! What are good stress reliever activities for you? Exercise? For me it is cooking.........not the eating but the cooking! Also, it might help to be proactive now about a job search - update your resume - start looking now and networking. Please keep posting and venting - it does us so much good!

When I lost my last job, third one due to chronic headaches and migraines. I just said to myself, theirs nothing I can do about this but try to get myself well and not deeper in the pit of chronic pain.

I started to really work on me. eating right, working out, scrapbooking, cooking, long walks on a cool night, a good movie, long baths, going to the beach. things that would help to pull out the stress resting in my body.

I knew that I had to get me right in order for my life to work somewhat well.

I have already re-done my resume and sent out three applications, so that piece is moving. It is true that you can't move forward if you are in that pit of pain and your advice is helpful. Thank you for the ideas. I know it sounds silly, but when someone else says it, it seems more real (than my own thought) sometimes. Anywho, thank you Very Happy

I understand the stress thing - believe me! I am learning to control things with deep relax breathing, doing time on the treadmill, reading and of course a bit of anti-anxiety med doesnt hurt!

Good luck to you - sounds like you are on the right track!
