My symptoms are so different than others I was not sure I was even getting migraines for a long time. And then after a few years of treatment, my early symptoms changed yet again. So my question is this: do triptans do anything to non-migraines? In other words, if the meds work can I be assured it really is a migraine?

My most common symptom is neck pain. It hurts to turn my head side to side, usually one side first. Doesn't throb usually. It just feels like a soar muscle or even a pinched nerve, even though I did nothing to cause it.

The meds always work for me. My problem is in timing. I want to be sure nothing else will work first so I don't waste a pill. My symptoms can go on for 24 hours or more before I am unable to function. But I do find that the later I wait the harder the side affects are.

Often the meds will accelerate the pain and it gets worse for about an hour before I get total relief.

It's always nice to get a "me too" and know I'm not the only one.

I had a nuero that suffered M 2x week, that thought my neck muscles were to tight and may cause tension headache leading to M.

He said use moist heat often and massage it. neck felt better but never reduced M . after years of not taking a triptan till the M was real

bad I gave up and started doseing right away. I found the triptan worked better early for sure. I went outside med advice and dose as

often as needed . usually 4-5 week with daily chronic . 6 years for me . my newest and best relief now is 200 mg 5-htp daily

and a script for clonodine .1mg 3 x day. we all different,, hope you find your relief soon !!

I hope I understood your message correctly--I sometimes have problems comprehending when I'm migraining as I am now.......

My neck, shoulders and upper back are involved in my migraines. I haven't determined yet whether the migraines irritate the neck and shoulder muscles or if the neck and shoulders irritate the and trigger a migraine. I can just tell you their tied together.

I'm glad the triptans work for you. Up until a couple years ago, I had good luck with Relpax and used it successfully for many years. Now that I have chronic daily migraine, while my abortives work for a few hours, they don't ever completely take it away.

Please take care,
Becky
