Hi All,

I think I remember someone else here who has a service dog. I am applying for one due to the whole constant fainting issue and wanted to know of other's experiences. I will also post on misc- since it isn't directly migraine related. Thanks.

wow sailing, I think that is a great idea. I hope getting a service dog will be the answer to your prayers. I have seen golden retrevers as service dogs. I had a customer years back who used to come in with her dogs. She was training service dogs. People sometimes do not notice right away or just do no realize that the dog is working when he/she is with you. Kids and well meaning people will come up and talk to the dog and they are (I am told) interfering because YOU are the dogs purpose.

Please let us know. I hope this helps you and you will feel better about going places.

All the best and I hope you can get one!

I know service dogs can be trained to recognize signs of an impending siezure in epileptics. Not sure if they could be trained to recognize precursors to whatever is making you faint, but it would certainly be worth looking into. They certainly can be a comfort and help during the recovery period as well.

Incidentally my brother also sometimes passes out when he has an "episode". His problems stem from occipital nueralgia as a result of an automobile accident as a teenager. He also gets torticollis from this (like a twitching jerking motion of the neck, when the attack hits.) I don't know if your fainting could be related to anything like this. It seems to be more significant of an issue than just the migraines alone (as if that weren't enough).

Good luck to you!
