Blood Pressure Monitors
How many of you own one of these and what make do you have? I recently bought a Lifesource monitor recommended by my doctor but I have a couple of questions about them.

Re: Blood Pressure Monitors
Ruth I have one and like it. It is the same one my mother has been using for a few years. It is made by Omron. it says intelli sense on it if that means anything. My sister in law had it sent here for my mother when she stays with us. She bought it on Amazon. It is very easy to use and my mother does her own everyday by herself.
Hope this helps...

Re: Blood Pressure Monitors
Thanks for the replies.
My doctor told me to get the Lifesource Brand, not the Omron (but I'm starting to think he doesn't know everything!). Anyway mine has the irregular heartbeat feature which I love as I have so many skipped beats, enough to make me feel faint some mornings. I have been wanting to see a cardiologist for ages and my doctor finally got in touch with one but he has refused to see me because my tests have come back normal. Of course I never had the skipped beats during the tests (typical). I came out of his office in tears, I am so frustrated as I feel there's something definitely wrong. I'm also wondering if the irregular heartbeat has caused my pulmonary embolism.
Anyway enough about that.
When I take my BP in the mornings, I sit for about 3 minutes, feet flat on the floor, just like it says to do. The thing that puzzles me is that the first time I take it, it is usally a bit high, about 2 or 3 minutes later it's normal. How do I know which one is right? Does anyone know?

Re: Blood Pressure Monitors
I don't even know what brand I have. I haven't used it in a while. I used to use it all the time. It was kind of a decision my Dr and I made together. When preventatives, and/or abortives weren't working, I would check my BP. It was kind of what helped me determine if and when I would go to ER. If my BP was up, and i had taken meds, I gave it so long before I checked it again. If there was no change, the options were whatever else I could take, and if that didn't work, I would have to go to the ER. Now my BP was very high for a very long time. The pain would spike it and I was often dangerously close to stroke range. so this was our set up

My cardio said get a good one "like Omron" but I got the Walgreen's version of it, and I like it. It seems to be consistent, and is easy to use...
