Vivid dreams... Empty Vivid dreams...

Post  Mini Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:24 am

I have noticed that just before, and during, migriane I get very sleepy and often have extremely vivid, "life like" dreams.

The kind of dreams that when you wake up, you have a feeling that this actually happened.
It is not unpleasant, just disorientating. Like you were talking to a friend from years ago, and you feel like calling her and continuing talking about things that happened in that dream..

Last night a dreamt of visiting a friend and I discovered that in a shed in front of her house, her cat had twelve little kittens, and she was very surprised and we were discussing what to do with them. I wanted to take some home with me, but I knew I could not, since I travel a lot. The kittnes were so lovely, so sweet, so real. I only hope that this does not mean a new migraine is coming.

Does anyone else gets such vivid dreams with or before migraines?

Vivid dreams... Empty vivid dreams

I started having vivid dreams when I started M. I rarely sleep through the night. If I take a nap its like a three ring circus and Im barely asleep. Strange times. This continues now though I am controlling M with three doses of clonodine daily. Sure miss the old days of sleep.

Vivid dreams... Empty sleep; what is that?

Post  dcook60 Fri Jan 21, 2011 10:57 am

sorry, mini; didn't mean to hijack your thread. i haven't personally noticed any correlation between dreaming and killer migraines. i'm just a bit frantic to get some sleep!

the more we read and study, the more we know how vitally important is sleep.

what to do, then, when one has literally tried everything, and still can't sleep? the brain just seems to have forgotten how.

on the nights i do sleep with minimal awakenings (because i take a benzodiazipine drug) i rarely need a triptan. oh, to be able to take my ativan every night. but for me, it doesn't work that way.

i get instantly physiologically "tolerant", and have to keep increasing the dose to get the same effect. even though i've had 5 overnight sleep studies and 3 surgeries, all have failed to find the magic key to help my brain turn off. come on, researchers, PLEASE GET BUSIER with this life-changing issue!! dianne

Vivid dreams... Empty Re: Vivid dreams...

The only vivid dreams I have had during a Migraine have actually been from the medication. I usually do not remember anything or any dreams at all. I used to take a muscle relaxer that would give me the craziest dreams where I would wake up sometimes frantic, or crying, or whatever I was feeling i the dream. It was really odd. But I don't remember anything from sleeping with a migraine

There were a few meds that gave me very vivid dreams. One that would have me screaming in my sleep. Sure did bother my husband to get awoken that way Smile. Not an issue after I stopped taking it.

I actually find that when I have a migraine I sleep so poorly that dreaming is not really happening much.

In my case this cannot be medication since thist often happens before I have migraine, so before I have not taken anything. It is one of the newer symptoms though, and I did not get this in the past years of migraine. So, reading your responces I wonder if there is a connection.

Maybe when I have no migraine I sleep too deeply to realise I have vivid dreams?

Than you all very much for your feedback.
