How to get the smell out of chior dress

Post  kimsmom on Sun Jan 10, 2010 8:11 am

Does anyone know how to get the underarm smell out of a good chior dress? I just washed it with tide in the delecate cycle but did not dry it. I hung it up. The smell is still under the arms though not as bad. I know when my daughter wears it again and sings she will still smell it.

Any ideas as to what to do about the smell? The dress is a long black dress with velvet on the top part which is the part that smells.

Thank you for any ideas. I am trying not to have it dry cleaned. The dress says it can be washed.

try adding about a cup of white vinegar with the detergent and wash it again. That should help.

I've had good luck with white vinegar, as Brenda suggested.

I keep a big jug in my laundry area. I use it periodically on my dark-colored bath towels to keep them smelling fresh.

I have the same problem with my washer, so what I do I put the Laundry Detergent - (I use liquid) - with some water added for easier dispensing, in an old spray bottle,
and thoroughly spray the underarms (and all the more soiled areas)
half an hr before putting the laundry into the washer.

If the garment is very soiled, you may want to repeat the process - rinse the first spray-on, spray the detergent again, wait again and now it's up to you - if you want to rinse it again or not. I guess the more you rinse the better it will be laundered.
