Help! this is getting ridiculous!

For the last 10 days, I have had to use toridal injections and imitrex everyday!

I have no idea what to do.. called my neuro. he wants me to take Methergine,, it gives me headaches! I told him this and he said it might be different this time, to try it!

NO, NO, NO, everytime I try it I end up in E.R. Because not only does it give me headaches, I can't use the imitrex or treximet with it! What the hell is wrong with this man!

Sherri, I know how you feel. For the last 2 1/2 months I`ve been having migraines almost everyday. They will ease up for a few days then they are back at it. I haven`t been in this type of a pattern in a long time. I wish I knew why.

I had to laugh when you said "sit and stare" because that`s what I did this afternoon, lol.

sherri, I also used to sit and stare EVERYDAY. that was all i could manage. since nov 09 i have been feeling better. i really thought it would never happen.

Have you thought about getting the surgurey approval again. ?? Petzi had success with hers. I hope you find relief soon.

Sherri, does your neuro know you're using that much toradol? I'm just asking cause I'm only allowed two injections a week and four total for the month. The Dr. said it's because it's so hard on the kidneys.

But, I also know every Dr has different ideas....plus, I don't know what dose you have etc. Just worrying for you since I don't have enough going on in my life

sherri, i'm so very sorry you have a non-listening doctor. he hasn't any new ideas, so he's falling back on tired old drugs, which you have already told him are unacceptable.

I'm sorry you're hurting....

I sometimes get stuck in a cycle where the pain last for days. It's all I can do to manage the basics around the house...the rest of the time I stay in bed. I know it's frustrating....

P.s. I wouldn't take a drug that I knew would make me worse either. Last time my neuro tried I switched neuros.

Are you in a position to do that?

I know youv'e probably got things to do - but going back to basics, dark room, ice/heat packs, trying to get to a calm place and staying there rather than stressing, trying to sleep even if more of a semi-unconscience??

Fire Him, I stayed with a surgeon who did a surgery that wasn't supposed to happen. I have had migranes and lost my sense of smell because of it. He works for you, not the other way around

I would take anything that for sure triggers migraine. Why should this time be different?
Be careful with Toradol, it should be used only for spot pain and not for daily pain.
Fire this neuro who's not giving you any alternative and no real help and find someone who can agree with you a new plan to manage your migraine.

Maybe I should find a new Neuro. But he is suppose to be the best in the area, I tried a couple others and they wanted to start where he started, same drugs I tried, know what I mean, I kept saying, " I tried that, and it didn't work."

I think that's whats so frustrating, there really is no answer, and we look to these drs. that truely can't help. I feel we have tried all that is out there, and he is just trying to keep me comfortable.

I am allowed 10 toridal shots per month. I don't even know what the dose says on the label. At this point in time it keeps me out of e.r. and you all know what that can be like. None of us like to go there.

I do have some relief this morning after a coctail of generic imitrex, and a shot of toridal last night before bed. Had a good nites sleep.

Today is a new day, I'm thinking positive, maybe I can get some house work done,,, just little stuff. Feels good to be productive.

Sherri - I'm so sorry too that you are having a rough cycle of headaches. I just came off a couple of not so bad days and was that ever nice. Now I'm back to the usual. Doesn't it just drive us all crazy trying to figure out why it's better or worse - what, if anything, is different?

My house looks like it should be featured on one of those intervention shows, like when someone calls Clean House or Hoarders, Buried Alive and they come in and clean up the house! I have to talk to myself and not be hard on myself because despite how I want my house to look, I know I'm doing the best I can. It's just such a struggle for all of us.

Sending a hug your way! I just hope today is better. I can relate - my HA specialist was supposed to be this wonderful doctor. I ended up firing him - I got tired of him trying to kill me (many interactions), not listening and being an A$$ in general. Frankly I am feeling better without him than I have in over a year. I would seriously look at trying to find another doctor. Teri has a listing on her site of patient-recommended HA specialists. If you haven't looked at it, it might be worth it.

I also sympathize. I think disaster of a house is a symptom of M. I can't keep up with mine to save my life and with 3 dogs, I don't like having visitors. Very frustrating.

Thanks for your testimony, and the suggestion. Unfortunatly, I am very skeptical about things like that. I have tried so many things juices, Noni, I have traveled out of state to Holistic drs, done colon cleansing, you name it, seriously, and not to mention how expensive all that stuff is, I have wasted leterally thousands of dollars.

I am so happy for you to have found somthing that works for you.

I was pretty gracious to him, but truely, I have been bitten a few times with products like these. They are usually network marketing...Don't ever want involved with those things again. So very expensive, and if you join and buy in quantity, you usually get stuck with the product!

Apparently this product is made from the juice of the prickly pear cactus, which is sometimes used in Mexican food dishes. I have had it before at a restaurant (it's different, but not bad). It does seem to be rich in various vitamins.

There is no evidence of any medicinal benefits, particularly not for migraine. See the below link. In fact headache and nausea are listed as a possible side effect. It also recommends consulting your doctor before trying it, as there can be negative effects on kidneys, etc.

I have been where you are at. I once had a migraine for 2 weeks, the meds helped to bring down the pain but it never really went away. Times like that its realy hard to not go crazy.
