HCTZ...a migraine miracle!

Hey Everyone,

I've had migraines for almost 30 yrs. I got them every day for ages, then w/ the help of Botox, decreased to 4-5 a week. I take several other preventative meds as well & use Zomig to stop them. A yr ago my family dr found that I had high BP. (never had BP problems in my whole life) She RXd HCTZ. After taking 25mg per day for about 5 days, my migraines totally changed. I only get migraines every 2 weeks now. Amazing. My neurologist says there is nothing in HCTZ to help w/ my migraines & that it was a coincidence that my migraines changed. I don't agree.

Has anyone else had experience w/ this?

Im surprized the Dr. dosent think there is a conection. BP meds are prescribed for M prevention often, though this works differently.

You know better than the Dr. if it worked. Does not sound like a coiencidence to me. Good for you. Doesent cost alot either .

Might help to cut back on salt as this drug works on that . { I think it says that } Did your BP go down ?? Is that the only BP med prescribed.? What was the BP numbers ??
