Methyrsegide
Has anybody tried this? Did it help? What are the side effects?
I am desperate to come off beta-blockers and try another preventative. The beta blockers are sapping me of all my energy and I need about 20 hours of sleep a day. I am not a dormouse and cannot continue like this.
I have tried all the other preventatives out there with the exception of methyrsegide.

Re: Methyrsegide
Hi,
I have tried methysergide. It did not help much. I tried during my first week of college. I remember having hallucinations and feeling weird with it so I called home. When I told my mother, I received the following response, "Don't worry, you'll feel better soon. You are having what is known as a "bad Trip" Methysergide is related to LSD. My mom is also a physician. I know it has helped some people. I was just not one of them.
Pain free days,

Re: Methyrsegide
Petzi,
This was prescribed for me by my neuro, but I refused to take it.
It has a LOT of heavy s/e and you have to come off it after several months.
It is usually only used in hospital.
He forgot to ask me if I had any kidney problems...I do, so it is contra indicated.
Cant tell you what it is like, but know it is a last resort medicine cos of s/e.

I don't understand why doctors continue to prescribe this. The original brand name, Sansert, was removed from the market because of severe side effects and potential dangers of the drug. To get it now, I think it has to be compounded.
