Just about a week until new doctor Empty Just about a week until new doctor

January 4 I see my new primary care doctor. I am glad for this. I am switching insurance plans for January 1 and had to pick a new primary doctor, so I did. I had my records transfered from several specialists, and from my old primary doctor. My neuro's office called to verify that I really wanted the last 5 year's worth of records sent over. They questioned this because I have 4 volumes of office records. I cut them some slack and just asked them to fax over a synopsis of my care. I plan to continue seeing my neuro, I just want the new primary doc to have a general idea of what my state of care is with my neuro.

I am especially looking foward to establishing a new relationship with a new neurosurgeon, as mine has left his practice and moved out of state. Seems like the timing couldn't have been better for all of this to happen.

I have never been so excited to have new doctors and new insurance (well, except when I went to the Diamond Headache Clinic). I just hope it all works out the way I think it should. I'll post a report next week letting you all know how it goes and what the new primary doc thinks I should be doing about random stomach pain, since the general surgeon never got back to me with the results of the 3-D ultrasound.

I'm curious too as to what he thinks. So, this may have been a blessing in disguise?

When I switched neuros I was asked the same thing...ALL the records? In my case I said "you bet". I needed the new neuro to see everything I've tried for the last 30 years and the terrible results I had with somethings. I was so afraid the new neuro was going to try and do a cookie cutter approach, but he didn't.

However, I think if I hadn't had all the records backing me up he may have.

I understand completely though why a primary wouldn't need all the records since you're keeping your neuro.

Good luck, AZ!
