Gully's question got me thinking about the history of my migraines.

When I was a child I got migraines infrequently. Then in adolescence and adulthood the migraines were even rarer, but more bouts of depression and perhaps some "no pain migraines" that I wasn't fully aware of. Perimenopause at about age 45 sent me into migraine hell and I stayed there for 7 years. The migraines really hit hard after a hysterectomy and estrogen replacement therapy. Now I am improving slowly but surely with some backslides, but it seems to be a trend not just an aberration.

Got my first headache when I was ten, had to stay home from a family trip due to it being so bad. More headaches as I got older, into highschool, like maybe 6 a month. College was the start of migraines. That soon turned into close to daily head pain. By the time I was 28 I was having migraines like twice a week. At age 32 I forced to quit work and now that 34, I live with severe menstrual migraines and chronic headaches.

I also first got migraines around perimenopause (46). I never had them at all before that, although there is a family history of migraines. Taking natural progesterone and other supplements is helping quite a bit.
