Anesthetic Lidocaine
It is always exciting to read about possible new treatments for migs. It's been a while since I saw one so was happy to read this article http://www.cbsnews.com/news/simple-new-treatment-option-for-migraine-sufferers/. The only shame of it is that it looks like we will have to wait for many a month before being able to try it for ourselves.

Re: Anesthetic Lidocaine
I tried it, a couple of years ago. It did nothing for me, however I am not a migraineur, just an individual with a constant headache. My dentist, at that time (I, since moved from that area, was a Cranial Facial Pain Specialist.
You might ask your dentist, if he can refer you to somebody who does the procedure.

Re: Anesthetic Lidocaine
I've tried Lidocaine in nasal spray for my headache, without success. Plus, it was absolutely disgusting going down the throat. Its pretty easy to try though. I was actually at my pain doc randomly one day when he mentioned it and was shocked no one had tried it, so suggested we try it then & there (had me hang my head off the end of an exam table to try to target the correct area).
Apparently there are more sophisticated delivery methods, such as injections into the nose as well (more similar to what is described in the article which used a catheter), but a simple trial should give an idea of where to pursue it further. So many of these new treatments fail the FDA trial/approval process too, especially medications, when they run into too many side effects / risks, or just plain ineffectiveness. Best wishes.
