I need a hobby..any ideas?

Post  Greeneyes on Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:38 pm

I love to bake, but I've been way to nauseos..sorry, bad spelling goes with head pain.

I get lonely when my hubby is at work and my sons are at school..I can't drive at all do to the fainting.

What can I do that's quiet and relaxing..any ideas would be appreciated.

HOpe you guys are doing well.

I uses to go for walks and take photographs, but dont get out much now.
Most of my time is on the PC now. My head lets me most of the time.
So I do family history. I find it absorbing and have learned such a lot.
I "travel" the country and the globe finding my ancestors, and pictures of where they lived.
It isnt for everyone I guess, but its 50/50 PC and folders sorting what I find.

Besides baking, what else do you like to do?
Do you like scrapbooking?

I like taking pictures, but I need a camera..I doodle when I'm on the phone..and I read magazines because if I read a book it hurts my eyes. I like spending time with my sons...but, they are teenagers now so they prefer to spend time with their friends.

I think Erik and I should have a hobby for the two of us..any ideas?

Thanks guys Smile

I like to walk and hold hands with my man...also, cuddle and watch a chick flick..which he hated he likes manly movies.

I recently took up crochet. Big hook, fat wool. Nothing fancy just rugs cause can't concentrate on reading a pattern. Very good option for me. I have given three away to family now and all very happy to receive something that is handmade. I can sit quietly - even if it is an old lady thing - don't care.

i am a potter/artist and have been making lots of small animal figurines recently - i know most people dont have kilns and the paraphernalia that is needed but you can get craft clay which you can bake in a normal oven with glazes that go with it. it can be very relaxing to just carve and make something people love. if you are not feeling well all you need to do is cover it in plastic and take up where you left off when you are feeling better. they also make excellent gifts and you can make larger scale items. pot planters, sculptures of people, wall decals for the home and garden, the list is endless and you are still using your oven !!

if you do a search on youtube you will probably find ideas to suit you using this medium - tons of information out there in cyberspace

good luck
Very Happy

Beading, beading and again beading.

All the materials you need are available to order online. Instructions and patterns are online as well. Many of them are free and come from other beaders who are happy to share their secrets. You don't need to leave the house at all to get your hands on the beads and all the accessories.

It is addictive, satisfying and everybody will love the results.

Try hand quilting ... quiet, can be done anywhere, anytime. Memory quilts are especially nice to do.

Get some decent art paper and doodle there ... I doodle but some of those doodles have become hangable art. I keep a pad of art paper and some nice pens near my chair onthe porch.

Camming with friends is another fun hobby. TokBox, Yahoo, and Skype are good cam sites.

Gardening. Just wear a hat and dark glasses if you are sensitive. You can be so creative, get exercise, get Vitamin D, total relaxation. For me it is a spring - fall hobby because of where I live.

Annabella - Thanks for the idea. I have always wanted to get into pottery but thought I needed all that stuff.
