Lunesta vs Ambien
My neuro agreed, I need more sleep. I'm waking up even when I don't have to run to the restroom (see Over active bladder thread).
I can get to sleep but can't stay asleep. He gave me Lunesta but I'm still waking up constantly. Plus, it's one of my more expensive scripts.
I'm curious about Ambien. My pharmacist said it's much cheaper. I told him I was leery of it because of all the ambien amnesia moments I've heard about. He felt that ambien horror stories are greatly exaggerated because they make good press.
I'm thinking too if I can get into a deep sleep I might be able to retrain my bladder. ( or I may be sleeping on hubbies side of the bed...
Any thoughts?

Para,
Lunesta does work, but can leave a really goofy aftertaste when you wake up. Ambien does work, but it may wear off rather quick if you don't get into the sleep rhythm fast. Ambien CR has been better for me.

A co-worker of mine who also gets migraines recently started on Ambien. She is on cloud 9. She loves it. She says she goes to sleep
immediately in a very relaxes state and doesn't wake until morning. She had planned on taking it only when needed but likes it so much
is taking it every night.

I am one of those who did experience some strange side effects when I started on Ambien about 3 or 4 years ago. I had a voracious appetite when it kicked in. Fortunately for me, it kicked in quickly, I turned to the pantry, but within another 20 minutes I was asleep.
To this day I take ambien most nights..sometimes half a pill, sometimes 1.
I also have a problem staying asleep, but for some reason the CR didn't help.
Generic ambien costs me about $8 per month. Definitely one of my cheaper meds!!

ps. Lunesta didn't help me at all

Paradox, just light up a joint
(and yes, I'm being funny, I happened to watch "2 1/2 Men" this week and the episode featured Charlie having the sleeping pill debate vs. getting a scrip for medical marijuana)

Bubbs, were I in a different State, I most certainly would be. I often think of that when I'm having difficulty controlling the nausea, even with the Zofran.
What irony that in the '70's I just did it for fun!
Even if I knew how to get it, no matter how tempting, I would not take it since it Is illegal here. I would lose my career if I were caught. Plus, I have built a level of trust with my neuro and would feel so guilty violating my pain contract.
So, I'll just keep puking while the govt misses out on a great source of revenue.

LOL Charlotte, I know, it was never worth the risk to me, but I laughed watching "2 1/2 Men" and seeing that the topic was exactly the same, except they threw in the "just light up a scrip of medical MJ" instead. Even Hollywood thinks its a joke. They didn't say which would work better though, Lunesta or Ambien!
