...gone off of the med roller coaster and had success? I'm getting SO tired of playing around with all of these meds, the side effects, wondering what works, what doesnt, what to stop, what to continue. I've had migraine since I was 16, never took anything but an ibuprofen for it and since November when the dizziness started, the migraines started daily.

I keep wondering if I should just go off everything, let my body "reset" itself, and see if this works. Being on all these meds cannot be good for a person. They are playing with my brain - I'm not the same person I used to be.

Of course, you can always chose to go off of prescription drugs. Best to discuss with the doctor. Before you do that, you need to examine what you are taking and what it does to your body, and wean off one by one.

Now that I stated the obvious. You started drugs because you had a need for them in the first place, so you need a plan before you go off of them so you don't wind up where you were in the beginning.

Some things to consider are a strict trigger free diet, accu/chiro/pressure treatments, and/or holistic approaches. I read a few times that it takes 3 months for a more natural remedy to kick in.

Good luck in your journey and if you find better releif, be sure to let us know. I'd love to take that ride.

I think under a doctor's supervision it can be a great idea...eliminate the rebound potential, give your body a break, and most importantly I think, get an idea of what your baseline is. For me, none of the meds I tried worked well enough to stay on them, so once you factored in side effects, I did better off everything (except muscle relaxers and narcotics). Never just stop meds...some of these are very dangerous (ie. you can go into withdrawal, seizures, etc). Especially if you think your mind is affected, its a very good idea. At one time I was on a med for a couple years and realized after the fact I felt so much more like myself when off of it! So hard to know how you are really doing on multiple meds, even adding and subtracting one at a time. To me, I don't worry so much about any long term effects of meds I'm on because anything I stay on long term I have proven to myself that my life is significantly better with it...if I'm not sure, I try without (under doctor supervision), then back on.

Mind sharing more about your transition from occasional migraines to what you call daily? Has it been examined to check if you had some other condition start at that time? Or, it it thought you fit into the transformed migraine or chronic daily headache/migraine category? If you do want to take a break, know that when/if you want to go back to trying meds, there should be many left to try (between Nov-Mar, given a good trial of a couple months on any med, you can't have tried too many). Have hope you will find something to help your pain (or it will cease on its own). Best wishes.

Yes, I've done medication holidays. I think it can be a good idea to step back and see how your body responds without all the meds mucking things up. Under doctor supervision, of course.
