Welcome! could the hallucination you refer to be "migraine aura"?
it is normal occurrence in migraine with aura, although this type of migraine is much rarer than migraine without aura - approx. 15% of all migraines.

I think your wife should have no plm getting Rizatriptan from her family doctor, either.
Seeing the neurologist, however, should be the best option, though, since it looks like her M (migraines) are new to her - either she didn't knew she has them or they are a new development. So it is vital to do detailed investigation what brought these recent episodes on.

Meantime, what helps me to "kill" time while in moderate pain is reading. If she can't read, can she listen to audio book?
and how about watching TV in sunglasses? out, too?

And I am not sure what do you mean by this:
