I think I may have the worst landlord on the face of the planet. I went 6 days last week with no hot water. I haven't had a clothes dryer since Sunday (and I've been calling almost every day). Now my mother's lawn mower (which she loaned me so I could keep up with the lawn) is now missing from the locked garage. The landlord has been renovating the lower unit and has had people in the garage every day but they lock it up when done (they are storing tools in there right now). Just rather pissed off. All I can say is the jerk better get it returned or he's forking out for a new one.

Just having one of those days where I could tell the world to go to &*^^....

Not having hot water is the worst. Hope tomorrow is better.

I hope things improve. Sometimes you just want to smack the world upside it's head. Enough already!

You said it. Lately, anything that can go wrong has. Things have to improve at some point....although they can't get much worse.

Any improvement on the situation yet? I hope your landlord fixes things for you and gets your mother's lawnmower returned ASAP! Is the garage considered part of your property, or community property? I don't have experience living in an apartment, just a condo, which is different, but it seems that if you can lock your garage, then it ought to be treated the same way as your own apartment unit. Your landlord wouldn't be allowed to enter your apartment without your permission or prior notice unless it's an emergency, so why is the landlord storing things in your garage? Did you give permission?

Things have sort of improved. The dryer still isn't fixed but it's been hot enough that a clothesline works.

The lawn mower. Well it got returned. There was some mix up and rather than talking to me, they assumed that the one that didn't work was my mother's and took it for repair. So it got cleaned up and oil changed. Why they wouldn't talk to me is beyond me but whatever.

The garage is a two car with 2 doors but no separating wall. So they were storing tools on the vacant side as they are doing renovations downstairs and have access to the entire garage.

Some things are improving. Filing today for the last time on my roommate who hasn't paid rent for the last month and a half. Kind of thought she'd wise up and pay after the first time but apparently she's a slow learner. She's doing everything to push the limits on things. A financial disclosure was due from her on 8/4. I got it 8/7 and it wasn't filled out entirely. Oh and she included a note saying she'd pay $30 per month. Um no. I sent back a promissory note for $100 per month and told her if she didn't sign and get it back to me I'd go back to court (for garnishment). She's lucky I'm being nice - I could so have her butt hauled in for her antics.

Can we say stressful...

Situations such as yours can be VERY frustrating. When my power goes out and I have no water or lights, I always remember how blessed I am to have these amenities most of the time .... we with power and hot tap water are actually a minority in the world I believe. Many folks live long and happy lives hauling water and without any refrigeration. I feel fortunate today for what I have and that I was born when I was. I really like the world as it is.

But I DO sympathize with your frustration. the only REAL answer to those feelings is to do what needs to be done in as responsible a manner as possible (garnish wages etc) and then let it go - and do something you really enjoy doing.

BTW, my dryer works fine but I have come to appreciate the feel and smell of sun dried sheets and things. Bless the clothesline - or to be more PC - the solar dryer! LOL

Richard,

I always look forward to hearing what you have to say. Such sound advice. Smile

Well the dryer got fixed finally - seems that the power was out to it. Would have been nice if the fuses would all be marked and I could have flipped them myself for testing. Oh well...it's back. Smile Now I don't have to haul my clothes up to my mothers and use her wash line. I do like having clothes line dried by the way. Smile I would use a line here if they would put one up - I hate using the dryer when it's 90 degrees and the air is having a hard time cooling the place.

After the hot heater heater going out, I realized how grateful I am for hot water. Smile Makes you appreciate the little things in life that others might not have. Although I'm tempted to get a big boiler in case the thing ever goes out again and I'm reverting to the 1800's. Smile

The roommate issues. I've done what I can and now the last of it is taken care of. I don't know why I let it stress me out... I suppose I was hoping that she would act like an adult and not make me take things this far. Rather saddened by the turn of events but nothing I can do about it. Just deal with issues as they arise.

I'm also having zero luck with finding a roommate for the next year. But as I was on my way to work last week (the one day I actually made it in) I realized I have an account that I could draw from to live on for the next year if I need to. I was hoping to save it for a wedding but right now that could be a long way off so why not. So finding someone isn't crucial but would be helpful and I don't necessarily like living all by myself.

But on the bright side, I have some cacti in a pot and one is going to bloom. Smile I've had them several years but it's never bloomed before. I'm rather excited about that. Smile
