big improvement in migraines!
Hello,
I'v not posted on here in a while, but wanted to report that I'v had significant improvement with my migraines, in the hope this info is relevant for someone else. I have been seeing this great hormone specialist who treats holistically as well as within the traditional medical system. She established I was seriously low in DHEA, Vit D, progesterone and thyroid was under performing as well, so supplemented me with these, including bio identical progesterone. Over the last 6 months i have steadily gotten better and better, and now get 2 migraines a month - menstral ones.
They are way milder than what I used to experience. Compared to the 3-4 times a week migraines and the times I'd have bad head pain for 3 or 4 weeks at a time this is pretty great as far as I'm concerned! Still a bit of a bad time, but can keep working.
Its a little hard to say exactly whats caused the improvement: as I have also had to start eating low GI as i had high blood insulin so now eat proper meals. I also weened off codeine painkillers. So maybe there was rebound headaches involved. I can't take tripitans any longer as they trigger bad anxiety/dissasociative attacks, as do a couple of other medications. Currently treating migraines with valium, and am hoping my reg GP is going to be cool with continuing this treatment.
So overall have heaps more energy and lost 14 kg and and am good tempered most of the time!
