Triptans, Am I alone in this? Empty Triptans, Am I alone in this?

Post  pen Fri Dec 18, 2009 8:02 am

I take one and more often than not within a few hours the pain does back off, but then...today its 4 hours....
The pain moves to the other side.....It is bizarre and I know they seem to effect us all differently.
BUT am I the only one that get this please?
I don't understand how they can do this....

Pen,

1. You are not alone with the M "switching sides." It happens to me often.
2. If the snow is 5" already, you are also dealing with barometric pressure issues. We're due for snow tomorrow & I can feel it in my head already.

Mine used to switch sides. In fact, I knew it wasn't over until it crossed over to the other side and then just took over my whole head. It doesn't do that now that I can usually abort them before they move. They are now almost always on my right side.

Mine used to always be on the right side, when they were episodic. Now that they've progressed to being chronic, they jump all over the place and the pain is constant--just changing in the intensity. Seldom below a 5 out of 10.

Triptans, Am I alone in this? Empty if i understand your question

Post  crt Fri Dec 18, 2009 3:54 pm

Pen,

It sounds like you're saying that after taking a triptan, a few hours afterwards it comes back but on the opposite side of your head. Am I understanding you correctly? If so, no, that does not happen to me. 99% of the time when I take a triptan, the migraine completely goes away and stays away for at least 24 hours. Usually, once I take a triptan, I don't get a migraine again for several days or even as long as a few weeks.

Yes Chris, you got it. they never take it away, they just help, and often, but not always, they push to the other side.
It has to return to the right side to go away and even then I might only get one day or maybe two before its back.
this has been since September, I have no idea why, but it is beating me...

I dont know much about barometric stuff, but my head has been lousy since October.....
They told me when winter came properly it should improve, and now we have snow....
So more Triptans..
